7 Guiding Principles

1

Doing Less Better

We understand as an organization led by volunteers, our time is valuable and not infinite, so it is crucial to focus on those things which have the most impact by stacking small principled actions daily. This may mean we have to let some things burn.

2

Relationships Matter

We know relationships we build and nurture will play a large part in our successes and our failures.

3

Principle of the Path

We believe direction not intention determines destination, and we never forget to celebrate.

4

Respect

We have the utmost respect for each other, the teams we lead and the leadership responsibilities we have been called to.

5

Work Hard Play Hard

Realizing this is a volunteer organization, members understand they need to participate and assist with the operations of the community. We are willing to do the hard things so we can do the fun things we enjoy – more of what matters.

6

Integrity

We agree to strive to be above reproach in all we say and do. We believe we will one day be held accountable for our leadership decisions to our families, to our friends, to our teams, and ultimately to our maker.

7

Leadership Is Stewardship, It Is Temporary and We Are Held Accountable

“The single best business decision you will ever make is to intentionally work with a peer group on a regular basis to question assumptions, ask hard questions (the kind you hope nobody will ask), alert you to icebergs, raise the bar, and push and hold you accountable!” ~ Keith Cunningham

Our Manifesto

Our History
Our Purpose
Our Rhythm
Our Community
Our Content
Our Coach

While we currently do not have just one coach, our  membership is well prepared to listen and offer ideas or thoughts to consider so we each have approximately 35 coaches! There are many opportunities to ask fellow members to speak to questions about team members, bookkeeping, culture, expansions, marketing and many more topics. Outside coaches and speakers are invited and hired to bring us their expertise about Profit, Process, People and Planning.

Our Respect for Each Other

We recognize we are a community of people, with no one being more important than another, however with many different personalities, life experiences and ways of communicating. Equally important to remember is each of us sometimes has extra stress or pressure and may exhibit untypical behavior for a season. Therefore, it is critical we choose to keep in mind the importance of being trusting, humble, and forgiving.

Our Process for Helping One Another

When a member appears to be communicating in a negative or aggressive way we will first “trust” they are in a season of extra pressure or stress. Then we will “humbly” inquire if this is a “listening” or “talking” time. And lastly, we will “forgive” any thoughts of personal attack because we trust their intentions are to be vulnerable and real in quite possibly the only place they might have. While this is acceptable behavior for a season it cannot be a continual on-going occurrence as this would be the member admitting they have no desire to grow, change, or be sharpened by the COD community any longer.

Our Board of Directors

Elected to serve a two-year term, five members make up the Board who meet monthly and hold an annual membership meeting once a year. These members serve the community by keeping things moving, making decisions, and supporting the various committees.

Our Committees

We currently have five committees on which members serve. They are Content, Events, Giving, Goals and Accountability, and Membership. There is a chair for each committee, appointed by the Board, who lead other members through the various activities needed for their committee.

Our Membership

Community on Demand is run by its membership on a volunteer basis because it is important to the members to maintain. We contract our bookkeeping and administrative work only. It was equally important to the members to have a way to give back and make a difference in the world today. While our organization is registered as a 501C6 with the IRS we have a 501C3 bank account and accounting created to allow our members to give tax deductible donations for the purpose of giving to other worthy 501C3 organizations and higher education scholarships.
